About Memory Games

Memory games are older than any screen. The classic card game, often simply called Pairs, needs nothing but a deck laid face down on a table: turn two cards, keep them if they match, turn them back if they do not, and try to remember where everything was. It trains the same short-term memory you use to recall a phone number or where you left your keys.

Here every character deals a different deck and adds a different rule. Some decks give you a quick look before the clock starts, some hide ghost or trap cards, and some shuffle, slide or mirror the grid when you miss. Pairs score points, a cleared grid adds a bonus for the seconds left, and the next grid is bigger. Tip: turn the cards in a fixed order and say them in your head.
