It is 1905, the other clerks have gone home and pixel Albert Einstein has just had a wonderful thought: what would it look like to ride alongside a beam of light? There is only one way to find out, and it involves running down the longest corridor of the patent office as fast as his old shoes allow. The night porter will later call it the Patent Office Dash.
The corridor is far from empty. Towers of patent files lean in every direction, filing cabinets stand open, a wobbly stool waits around every corner and paper planes folded from rejected inventions swoop past at head height. Tiny glowing photons zip on ahead, and every one he catches brings the big idea a little closer. Keep running, keep jumping, and maybe the light will slow down enough to say hello.
