Gedanken Glide

Ride a daydream lift past towers of clocks. Float through a dreamy cosmos above a sheet of curved space-time with pixel Albert Einstein. Tap to rise, slip between towers of stacked clocks and chalkboard pillars and catch little pocket compasses in this free one-tap flying game.

Twist: Time stretches in 8-second waves, so the daydream rushes ahead and then calms down again.

Parody. Albert Einstein has no involvement in making these games and does not endorse them. The character is an original pixel-art caricature.

How to play

  1. Time stretches in this daydream: the speed swells and calms in waves of 8 seconds.
  2. When "TIME SPEEDS UP" appears the towers rush towards you, so flap a little earlier. "TIME SLOWS DOWN" gives you a breather to line up the next gap.
  3. Each gap you pass is worth 10 points, and each little pocket compass 25.
  4. A tower or the ground ends the daydream. Over time the gaps narrow, the waves get faster and later some towers float up and down.
  5. Puff the light jets with a tap, a click, Space or Up. M for sound, P or Esc to pause, and share the score when you wake up.

The story

Gedankenexperiment is the German word for a thought experiment: an adventure that happens entirely inside your head. Pixel Albert Einstein has dozed off over his notes, and tonight's daydream is a big one, a dream he will later call Gedanken Glide. He is standing in a little brass lift with a round porthole, floating high above a sleeping old town, while below him the whole of space stretches out like a rubber sheet, sagging gently under tiny planets.

The lift has no cable, only two small jets of light underneath, so every puff carries him up and gravity does the rest. Ahead, the dream has built a course of grandfather clocks stacked into towers, chalkboard pillars covered in scribbles and mirrored tubes where a pulse of light bounces back and forth. Little pocket compasses, just like the one that puzzled him as a boy, drift in the gaps between them, their needles all pointing onward. How many can he catch before the alarm clock rings?
