Prism Sums

Split the sunbeam into a rainbow with quick sums. Split a beam of sunlight into a rainbow with quick mental math starring pixel Isaac Newton. Solve sums before each countdown runs out, build a streak and light up all seven colours in this free math game.

Twist: A finished sum appears, like 7 × 8 = 54, and you decide whether it is TRUE or FALSE.

Parody. Isaac Newton has no involvement in making these games and does not endorse them. The character is an original pixel-art caricature.

How to play

  1. Each question is already solved: you see a full sum such as 7 × 8 = 54, and you choose TRUE if it is right or FALSE if it is wrong.
  2. Tip: about half the sums are true. Work out the answer yourself first instead of trusting the number that is shown.
  3. Every right call adds a colour to the rainbow. Quick calls score more, and a streak of them multiplies your points.
  4. One wrong call, or letting the timer bar run out, clouds the prism and ends the round. The sums become times tables and two-digit numbers as you go.
  5. Tap or press Space to start, then tap TRUE or FALSE, or press 1 for TRUE and 2 for FALSE. Light up all seven colours for a full rainbow.
  6. Pause with P or Esc, switch sound with M, and share your score when the light fades.

The story

Pixel Isaac Newton has closed every shutter in his room except for one tiny hole, and a single beam of sunlight now shines through the dark onto a glass prism. He is sure that white light hides every colour of the rainbow. All he has to do is prove it with a round of Prism Sums before the sun moves on.

Every correct answer coaxes a new colour out of the prism, every streak makes the rainbow glow brighter and a single wrong answer clouds the glass. Light up all seven colours and the whole room fills with a rainbow. Stop short, and the sunbeam will have to wait for another clear day.
